climer 2027 | Applications Now Open!

We are delighted to announce that applications are now open for the 2027 cohort of the CLIMER Programme, an initiative designed to empower young professionals to strengthen climate resilience through innovation in climate and disaster risk finance and insurance (CDRFI). The CLIMER Programme aims to equip the next generation of climate professionals with the knowledge, practical skills, and networks needed to contribute to this growing field.

What Is the CLIMER Programme?

CLIMER is a training and capacity-building initiative that combines technical learning with hands-on experience in CDRFI. Through a structured curriculum, participants will explore how CDRFI solutions work in practice and how they can strengthen climate resilience in vulnerable communities. Topics include climate risk analytics, financial instruments such as microinsurance, policy and institutional integration, and social inclusion.

Beyond technical training, participants will have opportunities to connect with leading experts, practitioners, and climate actors from the public and private sectors through webinars, mentorship, and networking activities. Working in small teams, they will also develop and implement an “Agency and Change project” addressing a relevant challenge in the CDRFI field, with support from the CLIMER/MCII coordinators. At the end of the programme, participants will present their results to key stakeholders in the global climate community.

Who Should Apply?

The programme is designed for early-career professionals who are passionate about climate action, resilience-building, and financial protection against climate and disaster risks. It is particularly suited to those who want to deepen their understanding of how insurance and other financial instruments can help reduce climate vulnerabilities and strengthen the resilience of communities.

Participants will have the opportunity to enhance their technical knowledge and leadership skills, gain practical experience through collaborative projects, and build a global professional network. Motivated individuals from diverse backgrounds and regions who are interested in advancing climate resilience and exploring innovative CDRFI solutions are encouraged to apply.
